basic knowledge of organic chemistry
The aim of the course is to provide the students with a basic knowledge of retrosynthetic approach in order to be able to design a total synthesis of different kind of molecules by logical, rational and sensible thinking.
The course also aims to improve their ability to critically analyze, on the base of their organic chemistry knowledge, different strategies and choose the best one.
Introduction to the disconnection approach. Amine synthesis. Two-Group C-X Disconnection: 1,3-di-X, 1,2-diX and 1,1-diX relationships.Two-Group C-C Disconnections: 1,3-, 1,4-, 1,5- and 1,6- Difunctional Compounds.

48 hours of lecture in which there will be established reflection and exercitation moments in order to allow the students to take the stock of the situation and to fix the received contents through the confront with colleagues and the teacher.
These moments, in which no votes will be assigned, will also allow the teacher to verify how much the contents have actually been internalized by the student and in the negative case return to the weaker points.
Final written exam containing questions aimed at verifying the knowledge of the course contents and questions aimed at verifying the effective ability of the student to apply the acquired knowledge to the retrosynthesis of different kind of molecules.
