A basic knowledge of History of theatre is required.
The course will consider single performances as a unit of measure for a History of theatre. Students have to develop specific skills in understanding the acting process, and in classifying gesture, sound, movement in a comprehensive semantics .
The course deal with famous performances such as "The Dead Class" by Kantor, "Prince Costante" by Grotowski, "Antigone" by The Living Theatre and in particular with actors who took part to those performances.

The course provides knowledge about leading stage directors through their creative world, their specific social, national and cultural background, in order to understand their different perspective on actors.
We will interact with texts, critical essays, video and sound recordings.
The oral examination have to specifically point on building a critical approach to single performances and on the capability to distinguish different acting gestures, sounds and vocal levels, movements as a linguistic semantics.
Some lecture notes will be provided during lessons.
