Gyorgy Lukacs (1885-1971) was an outstanding representative of philosophy, literary criticism and marxism in the XX century. His thought played a great role in the philosophical and political history of the last century. Now he is almost forgotten, boycotted in Hungary and considered out of date, but he is still a very interesting philosopher.
The course will present a picture of Lukacs' life and works, will consider. thanks to the help of Matassi's book, the young Lukacs, the marxist Lukacs and the late Lukacs. The problem of the aesthetics will be the thread of the teacher's presentation, and a section of the course will be devoted to the reading of some passages of volume I of the great Aestjetics.
Class schedule: the course will start on november 20th, 2017, and follow acconding to this timetable: Monday, Tuesday, 11.00-13.00 a.m. Wedsnesday 9.00-11.00.
From October 2nd to the end of January Professor Abbri will meet the students in Arezzo on Tuesday from 9.30 to 11.00 a.m, and Wednesday 11.00-13.00.
From March 1st to April 20th prof. Abbri will meet the students in Siena at Palazzo San Galgano. Students in Arezzo may contact prof. Abbry by email.
