1. The background and preparation of prospective students will be verified. 2. The entry test entails an interview on the candidate’s general knowledge with professors of the second cycle course, from one of the following Italian disciplinary sectors: L-FIL-LET/10, L-FIL-LET/11, L-FIL-LET/14, L-LIN/03, L-LIN/05, L-LIN/06, L-LIN/08, L-LIN/10, L-LIN/11, L-LIN/13, L-LIN/21; L-FIL-LET/12, L-LIN/04, L-LIN/07, L-LIN/09, L-LIN/12, L-LIN/14, L-FIL-LET/09, L-FIL-LET/13, L-FIL-LET/15, L-LIN/2, appointed annually. 2.1 Both specialization/curricula entrance examinations will test the knowledge of Italian literature from its origin to the present day, the history of the Italian language, the methodological principles of philology and literary criticism. The foreign language curriculum test will include knowledge of foreign literature. 3. Students pass the entry test if they demonstrate basic chronological and stylistic awareness and adequate competence in critical text analysis. 4. The test can be held in one or more sessions, and students who failed in previous sessions can repeat the test in the following sessions. 5. Participation is restricted to graduates in possession of the entry requirements as well as to first cycle degree students who, at the time of the test, have obtained at least 120 credits. First cycle degree students who pass the entry test will be admitted under the condition that they complete their degree by the registration deadline.
